TEACH FOR BHU FELLOWS GET TIPS ON BEST TEACHING AND ACADEMIC PRACTICES

43 SCHOLARS HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR THE FELLOWSHIP LAUNCHED UNDER IOE-BHU INITIATIVE

VARANASI: Launched with an aim to help Ph.D students nurture their skills to excel in professional life, the “Teach For BHU Fellowship” provides them an opportunity to make best use of their time after submission of their thesis. The scheme is crafted to train the scholars about the best practices of teaching and prepare them for an outstanding academic career. A total of 43 research scholars across disciplines have been selected under the fellowship, for whom a two-day training and orientation program was organized by the university. The program inaugurated by Registrar Prof. Arun Kumar Singh equipped the fellows with skills for effective teaching, teaching methods and their use across subjects and disciplines, international trends in teaching-Learning and use of Online Learning Platforms like SWAYAM, MOOCs etc. He said that the initiative attempts to bridge the gap between theoretical & practical spheres of knowledge.

Explaining the Philosophical, Sociological and Psychological Perspectives of Education, Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, coordinator, Teach For BHU Fellowship, said that strengthening the inner-self is as important as polishing one’s external skills and abilities. This is what the ancient Indian wisdom also talks about, added Prof. Singh, as he referred to the scriptures like Upnishadas, Bhagvad Gita and various Indian philosophies and yoga.

Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Coordinator, Institution of Eminence (BHU), called upon the participants to inculcate the training imparted to them in their practical working and behavior. The Teach For BHU Fellowship has been launched under IoE (BHU) initiative.

The training sessions during the program were an opportunity for the fellows to strengthen their understanding on the values and ethics in Teaching and Research as well as on the importance of academic and co-curricular activities for achieving educational goals.

The scheme is open to research scholars who have submitted or are expected to submit their Ph.D. thesis (within 6 years of the date of admission, not the registration date). A candidate selected under the TFB receives a Fellowship of Rs. 40,000 per month and Rs. 6000 HRA over the 12 month period of engagement.
