VETERINARY COUNCIL OF INDIA RECOMMENDS FINAL APPROVAL TO BHU’S BACHELOR PROGRAM IN VETERINARY SCIENCES & ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
THE RECOMMENDATIONS ONCE APPROVED BY GOVT. OF INDIA WILL BENEFIT STUDENTS FROM 2017-18 ONWARDS
Varanasi: In a major boost for the students pursuing Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry from BHU and those aspiring for it, the Veterinary Council of India has recommended final recognition for the program to the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The council in its 71st meeting held on 14th March, 2023, recommended to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, of the ministry, final recognition for the B.V.Sc. & A.H. being conducted under the Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, in the south campus of BHU at Barkachha. The council made the recommendation for recognition under Section 15 of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984. The council’s recommendation will benefit students from the 2017-18 batch onwards. After the Government of India’s assent to the council’s recommendation, BHU would become one of the select institutions in India authorized to award the degree and the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry will be able to take 60 admissions in the program annually. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain, and Director, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Yashwant Singh have congratulated the members of the faculty on the VCI’s recommendations.
