BHU SUSPENDS STUDENT ACCUSED OF SEXUAL AND MENTAL HARASSMENT
VARANASI : Banaras Hindu University has suspended Prakash Sharma Chatooah, a student of M.A. 1st Semester, Department of Philosophy and Religion, from all privileges of the university, against whom an Assistant Professor working with the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Faculty of Arts, had registered a complaint of sexual & mental harassment. As per the order issued by Office of the Registrar (Academic), the Assistant Professor had filed a complaint with the Chief Proctor of the university, which was then forwarded to Police Station, Lanka, Varanasi. An FIR was lodged by the Assistant Professor in the Police Station, Lanka, the order mentions. As per the official order, “the Vice-Chancellor passed orders that Prakash Sharma Chatooah, M.A. 1st Semester, Department of Philosophy & Religion, be suspended from all the academic privileges activities of the University and Hostel”. The entry of the aforesaid student to university campus has also been banned.
